JOURNAL OF AMALIELLE THE CONFESSOR: 14th DAY OF ELEINT, 1379 DR, YEAR OF THE LOST HALL (Tales of the Armageddons #2)

I sit in wonder at the path the Lawbringer has set before me.  It was unquestionably his will that I came to this place to help the Reavers free the spirit of his broken lieutenant, Marazielle.  Perhaps I will also live to see her betrayers brought before the judgment of the Evenhanded.  Only time will tell, though I wish it will be so.

These new companions never cease to surprise me, none more so than my friend, Callista Armageddon.  Her curiosity concerning my patron gives me heart, and she is a worthy bearer of the archon’s shield.

I must remember to tell her that the bulwark was forged on the very slopes of Mount Celestia and is of a style I have seen many times in the hands of those who have come to worship at the Chapel of Resounding Justice.  It would not surprise me to one day learn that it had been fashioned by the hand of General Ambrielle en’Teiva herself, the greatest of Tyr’s angelic servants, and the ancient forebear of my foster mother, Siggertha Beornsdottr.

My own bloodline is so much more humble, and humility shall be my eternal guide.  I must always remember that in the end, I am nothing more than the Lawbringer’s instrument.  The fate of my lord’s servant Marazielle stands as warning and weighs on my conscience.  Those who thirst for power are always doomed to fall.

I am resolved to be the voice of temperance and mercy as we venture forward, and I will do all in my power to shield my new companions from the lust for power that led to the destruction of their own forebears.  It is an honor to accompany these new Reavers as they march toward their destiny, step by step.  I will do what must be done to see them succeed.
